Step by Step: Application UV Gel Wraps
Step 1
Preparation & Cleaning
Before you start: Sunlight and natural UV radiation can cure UV Gel Wraps prematurely – even in the shade. It's best to do your manicure indoors and keep the wraps away from sunlight until you use them.
If your UV Gel Wraps feel hard when you unpack them, they were probably stored or transported somewhere cool. No worries: just warm them up briefly in your hands – they'll become pliable again and apply as usual.
Smooth the surface: If your nails have ridges, gently file them smooth with a buffer. An even base helps prevent bubbles and wrinkles later on.
Clean & degrease: Clean your natural nails thoroughly with the Miss Sophie cleaning pad. Your nails must be completely free of oil and moisture – including at the edges – because UV Gel Wraps don't adhere well to oily or damp surfaces.
Pro tip: After degreasing, let your nails dry for another 2–3 minutes before applying the wraps.
Push back cuticles: Then carefully push back your cuticles with the enclosed wooden stick.
Optional – Base Coat: A Base Coat isn't necessary, but a nourishing undercoat like our Miss Sophie Base Coat can be helpful for very soft or brittle nails. It provides extra protection for your natural nail and can make removal easier. Make sure it's fully dry before applying the wraps. Since an undercoat can affect the longevity of the UV Gel Wraps, it's best to try it on a test nail first.
Step 2
Selecting the Size
Each UV Gel Wraps set contains 20 wraps in 7 different sizes. Choose the UV Gel Wrap that fits your nail best – the right size is key to avoiding bubbles and wrinkles.
Tip: If you are unsure between two sizes, choose the smaller one or cut it to size. If a wrap is slightly too small, you can gently stretch it.
Step 3
Applying & Trimming
Remove the transparent protective film and carefully peel the UV Gel Wrap off the carrier sheet. Place it in the center of your nail, leaving a small gap to the cuticle. Press the UV Gel Wrap down in the center first, then smooth it outward towards the edges – this prevents bubbles and wrinkles.
Avoid overstretching the wrap while applying it, as this can cause the layers to separate later.
Trim off any excess length with nail scissors. Then firmly press the edges onto your nail once more before curing.
Don't file yet: Before curing, the wrap is still soft and harder to file precisely. You'll shape the edges at the very end.
Step 4
Curing
Connect the Miss Sophie UV LED lamp to a power source. Place your index, middle, ring and little finger centrally under the lamp and switch it on. The lamp turns off automatically after 1 minute.
Then repeat this step for your thumb. Make sure every wrap is fully cured before you move on to filing.
Why our lamp? The Miss Sophie UV LED lamp has the ideal power (6 W) to fully cure the wraps within 60 seconds. With a different wattage, we can't guarantee the same curing time.
Optional – Top Coat: A Top Coat isn't necessary, since our UV Gel Wraps already contain a semi-cured UV Top Coat that cures fully under the lamp. You're welcome to apply an additional (UV) Top Coat on top. When using third-party products, test them on one nail first.
Step 5
Filing
Once cured, fold the protruding part of the UV Gel Wrap over the tip of your nail and file the edges into shape.
Important when filing: Always file horizontally along the underside of the nail edge, moving in one direction only. Never file vertically back and forth – this can damage the wrap and cause it to lift at the tip.
Tip: Finally, run a Nail Care Stick over the edges of the wrap once more to press them firmly onto your nail.
Make Your UV Gel Wraps Last
Right after application: Avoid contact with water or lotion for the first 1–2 hours. The adhesive needs some time to fully set.
Pro tip: Do your nails in the evening while watching your favorite show – that way they can set perfectly overnight.
Cuticle oil: You can use cuticle oil while wearing UV Gel Wraps. Just make sure the wraps are completely dry and adhering well – if oil gets underneath, the wrap can lift.
In summer: Don't apply chemical sunscreen directly onto your wraps. It can act similarly to nail polish remover and make the surface matte and sticky.
Pro tip: Use mineral sunscreen, or wash your nails right after applying sunscreen.
Removal
Remove UV Gel Wraps
For removal, we recommend our Care Pen. Apply oil from the Miss Sophie Care Pen to the edge of the UV Gel Wrap. Use the wooden stick to lift the edge and to work the oil underneath.
Work your way from one side of the UV Gel Wrap to the other with the wooden stick, repeatedly adding a bit more oil underneath with the Care Pen.
Before first use: It may take up to 20 clicks until a drop of oil appears at the tip of the Care Pen.
Important: Always loosen the wraps gently with oil – never tear them off. This can remove the top layer of your natural nail.
Good to Know
Wear & Hold
How long do the UV Gel Wraps last on the nails?
Our UV Gel Wraps last up to 3 weeks. Wear time can vary depending on how quickly your nails grow and how you use your hands day to day. For the best hold, curing under our UV LED lamp is essential – it's specifically calibrated for our UV Gel Wraps and cures them within 60 seconds.
My UV Gel Wraps lift at the edges or roll up after a few days. Why is that?
This can have several causes. Make sure your nails are completely free of oil and moisture before applying – even the smallest residue can affect adhesion. Always file the edges in one direction only, so the wrap doesn't lift at the tip, and fully cure it under the UV LED lamp before doing the final edge filing.
If you've already followed these tips and are still having issues, feel free to reach out to us with a few photos via our Contact Form – we'll take a look together with you.
The clear top layer of my UV Gel Wrap has separated from the color layer after curing, or has chipped off. What could be the reason?
The layers of the wrap separating from each other shouldn't happen, of course! This can have various causes, for example:
- Overstretching the wrap during application
- Incomplete curing under the UV LED lamp
- Water, oil or hand cream getting under the wrap
- Storage issues (e.g. too warm, too cold or direct sunlight)
In this case, feel free to reach out to us with a few photos via our Contact Form, and we'll take a detailed look at your case.
After about a week, the wraps keep catching in my hair. What can I do?
This can happen if the edges of the wrap lift or become slightly rough over time. In this case, apply another thin layer of (UV) Top Coat over the wrap and cure it under the UV LED lamp. This smooths the surface and edges again and prevents the wrap from catching on hair or clothing.
Do all designs and colors hold up equally well?
In general, our designs shouldn't show any major differences in longevity. However, depending on the color, structure or finish (e.g. lighter, darker, with glitter), there can occasionally be small differences in wear behavior.
If your UV Gel Wraps in a particular design come off noticeably faster than usual (for example, after just a few days), that doesn't meet our standard – please reach out to us with a few photos via our Contact Form.
After removing my UV Gel Wraps, my nails are thin and break easily. What can I do?
This can happen if the top layer of the natural nail is unintentionally removed along with the wrap while peeling it off. This makes the nail tips thinner and more prone to breaking. So when removing, always loosen the wrap gently with the Care Pen instead of tearing it off.
To do something good for your nails afterwards, we recommend an intensive nail oil treatment right after removal and regular care in the following days. It's also a good idea to give your nails a short break without wraps or polish so they can recover. If your nails don't recover over a longer period, we recommend consulting a professional (e.g. at a nail salon) or a doctor.
Product & Storage

- Easier, gentler and faster to apply than UV gel polish
- Saves time and money, since no salon visit is needed
- Long-lasting (up to 3 weeks)
- Removal with nail oil – no elaborate filing or soaking in acetone
- Intricate designs, even without experience as a nail artist
- No smudged or streaked color
- Doesn't chip
- Vegan, HEMA-free and cruelty-free
What material are the UV Gel Wraps made from?
Our UV Gel Wraps are made from a material similar to UV gel polish. This makes them very flexible yet strong, so they sit perfectly on your nails and last a long time. Sustainability and animal welfare matter a lot to us: all our products are HEMA-free, cruelty-free and vegan.
How many applications does one set of UV Gel Wraps last for?
A UV Gel Wraps set includes 20 wraps in 7 different sizes. If you cut a wrap in half, one wrap can work for two nails – so one set is usually enough for 4 applications. A UV Gel Wrap that has already been used can't be reused.
How long does an unopened pack of UV Gel Wraps stay good for?
When stored properly and protected from heat and light, our UV Gel Wraps last several years unopened in their original packaging. Once opened, you should use them up within 6 months. Store opened UV Gel Wraps well packaged in their protective sleeve, in a dark, cool place.
